Alva Dorothy Gooden, china painter, is best known for her decoration of many dishes, plates and vases with Australian wildflowers and blackboy (Xanthorrhoea) trees. Although Gooden painted on a variety of different china including Wembley Ware, she was not one of the artist employed at the china factory. Her work includes scenes featuring balga or grass trees set in landscapes. These were painted on tiles, egg cups, plates and other souvenir items.
