Annie Dorrington

Also known as A. Dorrington, Annie Whistler

Annie Dorrington (née Whistler) was a flower painter and designer. She was the only woman among the five winners (out of 32,823 entrants), who shared the £200 first prize for the design of the Australian flag first flown in 1901. She had six sisters. Their mother did not want her daughters to marry 'wild colonial boys', but Annie would defy her.
