Millbank exhibited oil paintings and watercolours with the West Australian Society of Arts. A reviewer in 1920 wrote, “Mr A. E. Millbank shows an English scene that is a gem.” He had apparently recently migrated as most of his entries had English subjects. Leschenaultia, a watercolour, was obviously of a local subject. Millbank was a member of the Western Institute of Artists and exhibited with them at the Art Gallery of Western Australia in 1921. He taught art classes privately, including to Rita Burtenshaw n_e Hunter. His 1931 entry was described by the critic George Benson as “a sound still life”. In 1933 his students exhibited china painting with the West Australian Society of Arts. His wife was a member of the Western Australian Women Painters and Applied Arts Society.
