marine painter, son of George Frederick Gregory , took over his father’s Gregory Studios in South Melbourne and worked there as a marine painter from the late nineteenth century. Two watercolours from the Holmes à Court collection, one titled on the mount The St Vincent 892 tns “Off the Semaphore” Captn Smay and dated 1918, the other Start of Tea Race 1872 (Cutty Sark and Thermoplyae) 1932, were offered by Christie’s Australia at Melbourne on 7 May 2003, lots 279 (not ill. est.$3,000-5,000) and 284 (ill. est. $4,000-6,000).
