Aurelie Yeo, Perth born artist and former physiotherapist , is passionate about our natural environment and has found much to inspire her having travelled throughout W A and the N T on numerous painting trips. More recently in 2014 her close proximity to the Indian Ocean has been an inspiration for her 22nd solo exhibition “ The Colour of Water” in which she endeavoured to interpret the many changing moods of the ocean. Water is also a compelling influence and focus in the interior whether it be waterfalls ,creeks or billabongs and they always hold a special significance for her.
Her first solo exhibition following the completion of a Diploma in Fine Art (Painting) in 1986 ( which marked the beginning of her painting in a full time capacity) was based on impressions gained during a visit to China .
Other solo exhibitions comprised landscapes of both the South West and Kimberley regions and also floral arrangements and still life .She has held 6 exhibitions from 1992 -2002 at the Mulgara Gallery , Ayers Rock where she was also Artist in Residence.
In 1998 a major exhibition was held based on an expedition to Antarctica.
She has been in 7 joint exhibitions at Rottnest Island and represented in well over 100 invitation exhibitions.
A significant proportion of her work has always been portraiture in all media. This interest was initially encouraged by the eminent tutelage of Owen Garde and Henry Froudist.
She has given drawing, portrait and painting workshops, judged art exhibitions and been guest artist, won numerous awards from 1987 and was overall winner of the 2013 Annual Watercolour Society Exhibition.
She works from her studio in Mosman Park.
