ARTISTS STATEMENT
“I have pursued a serious study of sculpture, painting and drawing from my late 30’s onwards, after travelling to Europe on study leave in 1982 and again in 2002, 2010 and to Italy in 2011 and 2015 to exhibit in The Florence Biennale.”

“I am inspired by nature and different cultures by my travels to Sth America, Sth Africa, Canada, New Zealand, Russia and Turkey.”

“I like to explore different media and techniques, carving in wood, limestone and alabaster. I also use constructive techniques as in oxy welding with sheet steel plus modelling clay and wax, resulting in small bronze sculptures.”

“Each process requires a different thinking and is an additional challenge.
I also paint in oils, watercolours and experiment with mono prints and pen and ink.”

– “Betty’s Art Works evolves around nature and the human form, creating peaceful interpretations. In her 3D work there is an emphasis on curving tactile formations that are defined with undercutting and spatial awareness leading to a greater value variability. Drawings take on a more detailed and textural approach especially the series on Owls.” – Source – Artists’ Website

Betty has exhibited in Australia and Internationally and has won a number of Art Awards.
