Cousins' theatre designs include sets for Sydney Theatre Company; Belvoir St Theatre, Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne; Toneelgroep/ International Theatre Amsterdam; Berliner Ensemble and others. He has also worked in film on Candy, Romulus My Father, Balibo and Ruben Guthrie. in 2021, he was appointed Course Leader, Design for Performance at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
