The exhibition delves below the surface to explore the underlying motivations and social values that shape experiences of desire. The psychiatrist, Dr. John Money, coined the term 'love map’ to describe the mental template that defines an individual’s unique picture of an idealised lover and an idealised romantic and erotic love relationship.

Platten founded The Museum of Love and Romance in 1997, as a virtual institution, its activities manifested through her own research which examines ways in which human and animal sexuality have been represented in culture from Victorian times to the present. This exhibition also included a video work by Alison Main.
