painter and teacher, was John Glover 's only known Tasmanian pupil, having been given lessons while resident at Glover’s northern Tasmanian property, Patterdale, for three months in 1835. Previously employed as a classics instructor Merrett is presumed to have returned to his pedagogy. No examples of his work have been identified, apart from a small unsigned and undated wash drawing (Museum of Mankind, BM), The Natives of Tasmania Bewaling [sic] the Loss of Their Country/ Finis , attributed to 'a pupil of Glover’.
