cartoonist and caricaturist, was a competent, apparently commercial, artist who drew for the Bulletin in the 1930s and for Frank Johnson publications at Sydney in the 1940s. Originals in the ML’s Frank Johnson Papers include: “Noel Cook” explores and adventures into stratosphere, ocean-bed, or what have you, grounded “Superman”,/ “Nice work, “Cookie”!” – a large caricature portrait of cartoonist Noel Cook ; (a stereotypical nude model to artist) “But I am nude, the white part is where I’m not sunburnt” ; (a lady with nine small children to stereotypical spinster landscape painter) “I’d give anything to be able to do that, it’s so creative!!” ; (a burglar to little man he is holding up as dopey policeman appears around the corner) “Don’t make a noise and wake the copper, he’s sleep-walking!!” .
