Painter who exhibited under the name Russell Smith (presumed to be Christian and surname not a double surname). In 1920 he showed three watercolours of scenes in Guildford and Peppermint Grove with the Western Australian Society of Arts and he showed two more in 1922. He also exhibited a sketch in 1926. In 1927 he exhibited watercolours of a Cowshed, Porongorups; A Glimpse of the Stirlings and Blackwood River at Augusta. The next year he exhibited scenes of Nornalup, Spring Morning; Noontide, Noongar and Wheatlands of the South. In 1930 he contributed six watercolour landscapes. He was vice-president of the Society in 1933 when his name was written as Russell-Smith in the introduction. In 1935 the reviewer 'Renee’ wrote that “worthy of special mention among the landscapes was South-West and Summer, by Russell Smith with its suggestion of wind in the golden corn.”
