Born 'in the bush’, probably just north of present day Kiwirrkura, c.1938, Dominic Martin has not spoken a word since a boyhood accident. He lives in Balgo and sells his work through Warlayirti Artists. The artist’s traditional country lies in Kukatja lands west of Lake Mackay. He usually depicts Bandicoot and Emu Dreamings and has been painting since 1985. He continues to paint in a fairly 'traditional style’ which is simple and direct. However, his work also shows awareness of developments in other artists’ work and a willingness to try new approaches. A prolific painter, he usually prefers to work on smaller sized canvases.
