Shaw was an interior designer and founder of the Colour Studio, Taubman's Colour Service (1952). The colour studio, located in Asbestos House, 65 York St, Sydney, included a "consultation studio of Applied Chromatics". A graduate of the East Sydney Technical College, he worked with Arthur Sanderson, London and was an original member of the Society of Interior Designers of Australia.
