watercolour painter and surgeon, may have been at Melbourne in 1853, the date on H. (Henry?) Wilkinson’s watercolour, The Ferry, Melbourne (La Trobe Library), showing Prince’s Bridge and the Yarra River. In 1854 Dr Henry Wilkinson was surgeon-superintendent aboard the migrant ship Tudor travelling from England to Sydney where he remained, painting Sydney Heads from Botany Bay (watercolour, Mitchell library [ML]) in November 1855. In August 1856 he signed a petition as an elector of Sydney. Another view of Sydney Harbour is dated November 1856 (photograph ML), while a watercolour of Cox’s River Falls, NSW was painted in 1857 (Leonard Joel).
