Edwin Foss Duffield was a son of John Hole Duffield Jnr. cooper and wheelwright. He was a cabinetmaker and undertaker in Fremantle in the 1870s. He married Adeline daughter of George Lazenby and was probably trained in George Lazenby’s employ. A chiffonier of his making c1880 is in Samson House in Fremantle, Western Australia. It was the property of Sir Frederick Samson who donated it to the Fremantle City Council. St John’s Church of England in Fremantle has a carved bookcase presented by Thelma and David Johnson. A private collector has a chess table made with various Western Australian woods. He employed a ticket of leave carpenter in 1868. Duffield was the owner of a cutter Scud 1874-78. He lived in Beach Street Fremantle in 1905.
