Miss Blyth was a painter and art teacher who exhibited in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales despite living predominantly in Hobart, Tasmania. Formerly identified as Eliza Blyth (1820-1894), it is likely that the artist was that lady's niece Sarah Frances Roberta Blyth (1839-1929), daughter of William Blyth of Hobart and the sketcher Elizabeth Crowther, who trained her daughter.
