sketcher, drew views of Sydney and Port Stephens in about 1851-52 (DG) which include Balmain New South Wales , Bathing House. Domain. New South Wales. E.A.M. and Durham from Harper’s Hill Australia. E.A.M. . Her view of Government House, Sydney, is annotated 'Copied from Mrs Scott’s’ ( Maria Jane Scott ). All are sketchbook works, presumably made en route from England to South Australia. Married in London in 1851, Ellen Anne was the second wife of the Adelaide medical practitioner George Mayo, whose first wife Maria, née Gandy, had died at Adelaide in 1847 leaving him their three children to bring up. Ellen and George had a daughter, born at Adelaide in 1853.

The pencil study by 'Mayo’ which George lent to the 1859 exhibition of the South Australian Society of Arts and the painting of fruit (also by 'Mayo’) he sent to the sixth annual exhibition of the society in January 1863 were undoubtedly by Ellen.
