Born on 6 October 1862 and died at Norwood on 23 September 1937. He was employed as a photographer’s printer by Mrs Davis of the Adelaide Photographic Company, King William Street, when the premises were destroyed by fire in February 1879. At the inquest it was said that he had been working there for two years (since 1877), was ‘not mischievous’, and that he sometimes smoked on the premises.
An item in the Observer for 17 May 1892 refers to some large photographic views that Ziegler had taken at the Hon. J.H. Angas’s residence, Collingrove, near Angaston.
In May 1898 he claimed copyright, at the Patents Office, on five postcard views of Adelaide which were reproduced in half-tone. Directory listings are:
1889–93 174 Rundle Street, Adelaide
1894–95 Not listed
1896–1913 40 Elizabeth Street, Norwood
1914 + 42 Elizabeth Street, Norwood.
