Flora (1809-60) was one of Tasmania’s last surviving tribal Aborigines. Flora, also called Plowneme, Plonermener, Palorimeenner (emu) and Pangem was a native of the Ben Lomond Tribe. As a young girl she was stolen from her family by the sealer Thomas Mason, who later sold her to Jack Brown, another sealer. Flora was one of 11 women taken from the sealers by James Parish in December 1830. In 1831, Flora joined George Augustus Robinson to help him search for Aboriginal people in the north-east of Tasmania.
Flora was taken to Wybalenna on Flinders Island and later transferred to Oyster Cove where she died, on 27 May 1860, aged 51.
