sketcher, born on 16 November 1825, has had attributed to him a pencil drawing preserved in a diary (Mitchell Library) kept by his father, George, between 1834 and 1846. A note on the back, probably in the latter’s hand, reads: 'Frank’s sketch of our cottage on the creek’. The house depicted is at Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, where the Hoblers lived from 1848 until moving to California in 1852. Frank Hobler returned to Australia in 1855. He died in Queensland on 25 January 1888.
