cartoonist, was on the staff of the Queenslander from c.1897 until he migrated to the USA, according to Moore ( Story of Australian Art ii, 123). His cartoon Distributing the Commonwealth Bill ('The people of Queensland may expect to get Federation wrappers around their sausages for many months to come’ – a comic butcher and fat housewife) appeared in the Queenslander on 6 May 1899 (reproduced in Memoirs of the Queensland Museum 2/2 (31 May 2002), p.162).

This is not Garnet Agnew , who joined the paper later.
