Davis was a painter with abilities in landscape, nature painting, portraiture and murals. He was celebrated as a drawing master with particular interests in the natural world of Tasmania. Murals by Davis are also known such as the ABC Building, Sandy Bay, and the ceiling of the Theatre Royal, Hobart, Tasmania.
