Georgiana Molloy, wife of Resident Magistrate and Napoleonic War veteran 'Black Jack’ Molloy, was a noted botanical collector and gardener. She collected botanical specimens for Kew Gardens and Chatswood House in England. Molloy thought herself the first person to make a flower garden in the Western Australia. She also designed patterns featuring wildflowers for use in England on china and fabric. She was also a lace maker. In a letter written to her sister in 1833 Molloy described some embroidered lace she had made: “have just completed an elegant pelerine for Lady C. Bell … worked all over with small springs in imitation of Honiton and sprigs like my veil in the three ends.”
