Grace Kelly is a Noongar artist who, along with her sisters Lynette Kelly and Priscilla Kelly , paints in association with Mungart Boodja Art Centre in Katanning, Western Australia. The second eldest daughter of Lorraine and Simpson Kelly (one of the Carrolup children artists), she was born in Tambellup in the southwest region of Western Australia. Her grandmother Bella Kelly was a renowned Noongar landscape artist and is one of Kelly’s most important artistic influences. In an artist’s statement from Mungart Boodja Art Centre, Kelly writes:
“As a child we lived in Tambellup and surrounding towns and we camped on various farms. We used to go to the Stirling Ranges and the Porongorups and travelled through the Red Gum Pass. We used to fish down at Bremer Bay when the mullet came in to breed and camped at Cape Riche. We know of the 6 seasons when the bush food and fish runs started, our family had a lot of contact with the land and the sea. I express my connections to country and family through me art.”
In 2009 Kelly participated in the exhibition 'The Legacy of Koorah Coolingah (The Legend of Children Long Ago)’ at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
