The Society was formed to "encourage and promote the cultivation of fine and industrial arts and to foster a high standard of industrial design" as summarised in The Sydney Morning Herald 2 August 1938. An address, Industrial Arts Society, Victoria Arcade, Castlereagh Street, Sydney is given. This organisation appears to be an alternative name for the Women's Industrial Arts Society (WIAS).
