The Australian Ceramics Association was founded in 1956 under the name Potters' Society of New South Wales. In June, 1967, the name was changed to the Potters' Society of Australia to reflect the increasingly national nature of its activities. The name was changed again in February, 2006, to The Australian Ceramics Association to reflect more fully the scope of practice of its members.
