scene-painter, painted the scenery used at the opening of Barnett Levey’s temporary Theatre Royal in 1828. The Sydney Monitor reported that these 'very creditable’ scenes showed Allen’s 'tact in perspective’. By 1833 he was principal scene-painter for Levey’s new Theatre Royal -when his address was given as 67 Castlereagh Street – but he was replaced by William Winstanley in June 1834.
