painter, showed work in the 1848 Exhibition of Colonial Artists at Adelaide according to the South Australian of 15 February 1848 (which also called the artist a 'colonist’). No one of this name is listed in the incomplete copy of the 1848 catalogue (State Library of South Australia), unless as 'An Amateur’, but the artist was presumably either the Hon. Henry Richard Mildred (1795-1877), a gentleman, politician and shipbuilder from Portsea, Hampshire, or his son Hiram Telemachus Mildred (1823-92), an Adelaide civil servant and grazier.
