He was a cartoonist with the Sunday Review in 1970-71 'then to hippie-dom (drugs, alcohol, mud and stone cottages)’, states Adams, returning to society in about 1978. In 1986 he was working as a graphic designer with the CSIRO in Canberra. 'Poll eyed Johnny’, published in the Canberra Times in July 1997, and 'Downer’s torpor’ of June 1997 were exhibited in Bringing the House Down: 12 Months of Australian Political Humour (Canberra: National Museum of Australia/ Old Parliament House exhibition, 1997), cats 16, 62.
