painter and policeman, was born in Scotland in 1836 or 1839. With his wife, Hannah and two young children he arrived at South Australia on 21 August 1865 on board the Norman Morrison as an assisted emigrant. There he became a policeman, based at Adelaide. His oil painting Cameron’s Farm, Myponga (1866, Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide) is a competent naive record of contemporary rural life.
