Jody Somogy and her parents escaped Hungary in 1956. After four years in Israel they arrived in Sydney where she studied at Easy Sydney Technical College. During her studies, she worked part time for John J Hilton. As a freelance designer, Somogy worked with the designers of Nina Ricci, Gerard Pipart, Farmers, Coral Outerwear, George Gross, Simona’s Boutique, Condotti and then worked for Freddy Weisberger, where she set up FW Boutique. Somogy has worked in a wide range of areas in fashion design, including organising fashion parades and modelling.
