During the period 1913/1921 John Flynn criss-crossed the country, working to bring medical aid to the people of the inland and the outback. Some of his photographs, such as 'An Ugly Blot on Australia,' showing a destitute Aboriginal mother and child, suggest that he did not support official policies of the time which left Aboriginal people in severe hardship.
