Watercolorist, son of artist John Barker and his wife Maud, Leach Barker trained at Torquay School of Art and served in World War I. He immigrated to Western Australia in 1923 with his brother, Leolin on Soldier Settlers passages. He was possibly involved in the setting up of the Narrogin Potteries with his brother and uncle. In 1938 he moved to Albany and served in World War II after which he became an invalid pensioner. His health improved and he became an art teacher at Albany High School before moving to Gosnells in 1960. He became well known for his lively watercolours and seascapes of the south coast. He won the watercolour prize in the Art Competition at Art Gallery of Western Australia in 1950. His entries were The Fire Went Through and Ghosts of Denmark. He also won the watercolour section of the Claude Hotchin Art Prize in 1962.
