John Smith b. 1 August 1948

Smith was a furniture designer who came to Australia in 1970 to take up a position with the Tasmanian School of Art, Hobart. He later became the co-ordinator of the Design in Wood programme. In 2012, he was Honorary Research Associate with the school. He has played a major role in the development of design in Tasmania.
