Les Evans was born in Sydney in 1946. His father was known as one of the Black Princes of Redfern and his grandmother was a Kamilaroi woman from the Coonabarabran area. In the 1980s Les moved to the Namatjira Rehabilitation Haven in Lismore where he started painting. He lives with his partner and his dog Fetish in Lismore.
