Born Yirninjarra c.1929 and lived at Lajamanu. Warlpiri tribe and speaker – she had only a few words of English. Her country was Yirninjarra and her Dreamings were Pirlarla (which the artist glossed as 'two women make fire’ [Pirlarla are bush beans – this may be a reference to when the women burn holes in those beans for making necklaces. PG & LC]) and Manalya ('Snake’ – possibly referring to a particular type or species). She started painting in 1986 in the Traditional Painting course at Lajamanu.
