Sketcher and Royal Naval officer. Captain of HMS Torch which visited Perth, WA in 1853.

sketcher and Royal Naval officer, provided a sketch of HMS Torch from which George French Angas made an engraving, published in the Illustrated Sydney News on 14 October 1854. The Torch had visited Perth, Western Australia, in January 1853. Edmund Du Cane noted in one of his letters home that Captain Chimmo was only twenty-five, ' very very young to command a steamer & picked all his off[i]c[e]rs out himself’.
