art teacher and headmistress, was the second wife of George William Evans . They married when she was a teenager and consequently had five children. At Sydney in the 1830s, Lucy conducted a finishing school for young ladies at Parramatta while George was drawing master at The King’s School. Four years after the family returned to Hobart in 1844, Mrs Evans advertised in the Hobart Town Courier ('Drawing’, 29 April 1848, p.3) that she would teach, 'DRAWING in PENCIL and Water Colours’ and flower painting. 'Mr Evans’ advertised lessons in pencil, watercolour and flower painting in the Hobart Town Advertiser in June.
