cartoonist, initialled the political print Ways and Means for 1845, or Taking It Out of the Squatters which attacked the land policies of Governor Gipps. Mahood states that the cartoon formed one of the series Political Sketches published by Edward Barlow , but the Mitchell Library’s copy of the lithograph was published by Raphael Clint . Clint published another print critical of Gipps, Don Quixote’s Adventure with the Cattle , which is initialled 'E.W.’ – Edward Winstanley . The Clint version of Ways and Means for 1845 is also by Winstanley, who appears to have been the original artist, M.N. the copyist. Since William Nicholas copied other prints for Barlow M.N. may have been a reversal of his initials.
