Margaret Jaye, Interior decorator, is considered to be the first trader to be listed as such in Sydney. Despite opening a store in Darlinghurst Road in 1925, little has been written about Jaye as she was not seen to meet a level of artistic integrity and was rarely, if at all, involved in the art scene. She wrote on design in "Decoration and Glass" and continued a practice "New Boutique", Killara in the mid-1960s.
