Maria De Vries, a painter and linocut printer, began working as an artist after the birth of her children. In the artist statement for the 'Gatherings II’ exhibition catalogue she states that she is sharing her “knowledge and experiences of life with my children and others around me. My works feature stylised birds and animals that reflect the country in which I live.”
