Art student, author and anthropologist, was the daughter of Robert Christison of Lammermoor – whose biography she wrote – and Robert’s second wife, Mary Christison , a photographer. Her mother went to England at some time after Mary was born and refused to return to Queensland until her daughter was twelve. Later she studied art under Sargeant in London. Even so, Mary apparently spent many youthful years on the station. Later she wrote up her father’s 'jottings’ on the Dalleburra Tribe of North Queensland for the Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute , adding her own research. The article’s publication date is not currently known.
