Maude Hoolihan of the Arekerebind/Mitakoodi people of West Queensland was born in 1940. Hoolihan works in the media of synthetic polymer on board and was a participant in the 2001 Brisbane exhibition “Gatherings, Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art from Queensland, Australia”. She says in the exhibition catalogue that she paints so that she can “share my grandmother’s and father-in-law’s stories and keep them alive. I want to keep these stories so they will be recorded by my grandchildren and the many generations to come … forever.”
