Megan Cadd is a descendant of the Yorta Yorta people and works across a range of media to explore the nature of contemporary Indigenous identity and to provide commentary on Indigenous people’s experiences of racism, disadvantage, and government policy. Such concerns informed the work Post Colonisation Remedies, which was short-listed for the 2008 Victorian Indigenous Art Awards. The work consisted of a medicine cabinet containing ointments, pills and other medical parephenalia whose labels indicate their remedial purpose with respect to a variety of Indigenous 'problems’. As she writes in the award catalogue:
'This piece reflects the complexities of dealing with the multitude of issues that affect Aboriginal people today as a result of past policies and practices in Australia’.
In 2008 Cadd was living in Melbourne and working as a project officer with the Victorian Childcare Agency while continuing her art practice. Her work is in the collection of the Koorie Heritage Trust.
