A Kukatja speaker, Millie Skeen was born in the Stansmore Ranges c.1932. Her country was Lirrwarti, and she painted Emu and Bush Carrot Dreamings. She lived in Balgo and had been painting since 1986. Like many of the older artists with Warlayirti Artists, her work had a strongly idiosyncratic look. Two common themes are showing tendrils of the bush carrot ('tjirilpatja’) surrounding the canvas or, alternatively, 'narrative’ works showing men’s weapons telling of the activities of her ancestors. The images are sometimes strikingly original.
