painter. Agricultural Society of NSW 1873: Exhibits from Academy of Arts – Oil Paintings – no.250 'Glee Maiden and Gow Chrom’. NSW Academy of Art, second annual exhibition 1873: “The first New South Wales picture on the catalogue is 'Gow Chrom and the Glee Maiden’, representing the escape from the brutal bigotry of a mediaeval mob of a poor little terrified outcast, under the care of the big, burly Highland smith, as related by Scott in the 'Fair Maid of Perth’. This picture is a very spirited copy of Landor’s well-known picture, and possesses great merit in its colouring and drawing. It comes from the studio of Miss Brownlow, a lady amateur resident in this city, and bidding fair to distinguish herself as an artist” ( Sydney Mail 19 April 1873, 500: info. Jane Lennon).
