sketcher, was probably the Miss Gatliff who showed chalk drawings at the 1862 Geelong Exhibition of Art, Science and Industry with Messrs Fraser and Meakin—all clearly young art students. Miss A.L. Gatliff, presumably her sister, would then have been about seven, seemingly far too young to have drawn them. Miss M. Gatliff had two drawings, The Keeper’s Daughter and The Forester’s Daughter , in the 1869 Ballarat Mechanics Institute Exhibition.
