In 1859 a southern correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald had commended a map of Braidwood made by Messrs Ardill & Briand: 'Every building, fencing, and name of present proprietor is recorded on the map; on the borders the principal monuments of the town are drawn, and we must acknowledge that the work is a real chef d’oeuvre. It is dedicated to the Honorable Mr. Robertson’.
