painter, exhibited Art Society of NSW (RAS) in 1889 and 1890, showing work at the Art Society’s autumn exhibition of water colours and black and white drawings and at the 1890 annual exhibition: “Mr H.A. Barraclough has three water-colours, the most taking of which is ' Gardening '. The leaves are beautifully treated”. “Mr H.A. Barraclough’s three pictures all display progress. His little bit called ' Gardening ' is the best thing of his we have seen”.
He won 2nd prize for his Attending Home Garden in a competition offered by Robert Sands for the best figure work by members of the Sydney Brush Club. At the third annual meeting of the Brush Club, held at the Royal Foresters Hall in 1891, Barraclough attended as a member of the society and his work hung at the meeting “displayed great ability”.
He also had work in Messrs Callan’s Sydney exhibition in 1890: “Three pictures by H.A. Barraclough should also be noticed”.
