scene painter, worked at the Theatre Royal, Melbourne in 1842. He was responsible for the scene painting at performances given on 21 and 25 February in aid of the hospital fund and again on 18 April, on each occasion attracting favourable comments from reviewers. The critic for the Port Phillip Herald
reviewing Buckingham’s benefit performance on 17 May 1842 stated that the audience was 'utterly astonished that so grand a spectacle could be got up in so small a theatre’. No further references to Southall have been found.
